Entry #2. The Blog about Nothing....

Well, well, well, look who's back in the blogging game – it's your favorite part-time sports blogger, Keegan, with another edition of "Blogging about Nothing."

This week, I'm treating you all to an unfiltered dive into the exciting world of Week 2 in the NFL. We're covering everything from thrilling victories to shocking upsets, and of course, you'll get a generous helping of my opinions.

Let's kick things off by talking about "America's Team" – the Dallas Cowboys. The boys in blue have hit the ground running this season, and their defense, in particular, is on fire! They've forced a remarkable 7 turnovers in just the past 2 weeks, putting them at the top of the charts when it comes to turnovers. ESPN also has the Cowboys' defense as number one terms of sacks and second in yards allowed. It's no wonder they're starting the season at 2-0.

A shining star in Dallas last night was none other than the former Defensive Rookie of the Year and two-time Pro Bowler, Micah Parsons. Parsons delivered an outstanding performance, tallying not just two sacks but also a game-changing stripped fumble that came extremely close to turning into a touchdown. So far, the Cowboys have allowed a mere 10 points in the first two weeks of the NFL season. To put this pretty crazy statistic into perspective for those not necessarily versed in football, consider this: the New York Giants, who are 1-1 and happen to be the Cowboys' division rivals, have allowed a whopping 68 points in their first two games.

While it may be a tall order for the Cowboys to maintain this level of dominance over a grueling 17-week season, if they can even come close, they'll certainly be in a prime position to prove the old adage that "defense wins championships."

In the realm of sports, particularly football, the dynamics of success can often appear rather ruthless. It's a situation where some teams must suck for others to bask in glory. Unfortunately, one of those teams currently experiencing a bumpy ride is none other than my beloved Chicago Bears. Being a passionate Bears fan, watching the team's recent performances has become quite a test of patience. It's disheartening to witness a playbook seemingly reliant on screen passes that yield a mere three yards per attempt, and an offensive line that struggles to safeguard the quarterback for more than a fleeting moment. It's almost as though the wheels are coming off the Bears' journey before they've even hit the highway. While this might come as a surprise to some, for fans like myself, it's become a rather familiar, if not frustrating, pattern.

The pressing question that looms over the Windy City is, "What lies ahead?" The Bears took significant steps in the past offseason, trying thier best to help Justin Fields, the franchise's future quarterback. Yet, despite the acquisition of a clear-cut wide receiver one, Fields has seen more interceptions than touchdowns on his stat sheet. This calls for a reevaluation of multiple facets of the team's approach. Coaching staff adjustments are a vital consideration, but a substantial part of the responsibility also rests on Fields, the former number one pick and preseason MVP favorite, to assume leadership within the Chicago locker room.

There's still hope on the horizon for Chicago. The season is far from over, and there's ample room for improvement. It would be disheartening to witness a team boasting substantial talent, competing in a division with wide-open opportunities, falling short once more. The potential for a turnaround remains, and Bears fans can only maintain their optimism and hope that their team rises to the occasion.

In the grand scheme of things, the NFL season has kicked off with enough headlines to turn this blog into a novel. Whether it's the former champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, suffering a surprising week one loss to the "brand new Lions," or the man many deemed the savior of the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers, tragically losing his season to a torn Achilles just four plays into the first game, it's been a rollercoaster of a season start.

But amidst the setbacks, there have been rejuvenations as well. Baker Mayfield, making a comeback as a starter, has guided the Buccaneers to an impressive 2-0 start. It's almost as if the scriptwriters behind the NFL have been cooking up some magic for us, and the season is just getting started.

Personally, I can't contain my excitement to see where we'll be come January, and you can bet your bottom dollar you'll find me right here, breaking it all down for you in the meantime. But for now, everyone, stay safe, enjoy your weeks, and hopefully, you'll catch me blogging about Week 3 this time next week.

With Love,
Keegan
AND IF IT WASN'T CLEAR LAST WEEK. WATCH SOME FOOTBALL!!
