Entry #9 The Blog About Nothing....

This little ad brought a smile to my face, featuring a hilarious cartoon of a colossal pigeon indulging in a meal from a McDonald's parking lot, while its slender pigeon companion advises it to explore alternative dining locations. The satire embedded in this short and sweet illustration subtly reflects on the current state of America. The escalating trend of obesity in the country is undoubtedly influenced by the prevalence of fast-food establishments. Below I dropped in a graphic that really highlights to the growing rates of obesity in America and its a scary sight to see.

In the cartoon, the portrayal of the pigeon's struggle with its food choices cleverly mirrors the challenges faced by individuals in making healthier decisions amid the convenience and taste allure of fast food. I can't deny that, like many others, I too occasionally succumb to the temptations of fast food.

The humor in this cartoon serves as a lighthearted yet impactful commentary on the broader issue of obesity in America. It cleverly underscores the role that fast-food culture plays in shaping dietary habits and, consequently, impacting our overall health. Such creative expressions, like cartoons, have a unique ability to initiate conversations and prompt reflections on important societal matters. I think more of these need to be expressed in everyday media. Making it less conflicting than showing real humans but still getting  the necessary points across to viewers.

  1. The harmless cartoon does portray a bleak reality Americans face as the obesity epidemic looms above our heads. I hate how our country, corporations, and culture influence us to pick the easier way out and eat the unhealthier food-- only to shame the people who gain weight when there are so many factors that help influence why people gain so much weight.
